The MLS will now be on NBC Sports network for the upcoming season. I find it interesting how the short spot depicts the two teams locked in a very dramatic contest of sport.

I have a feeling that NBC will pay more attention to the story telling behind the game and the players backgrounds. NBC has always been very astute at delivering a story based format for the delivery of sports broadcasts in America. Dare I say that NBC embracing soccer is a sign of the greater society viewing the sport as a viable recreation.

I reserve my judgement until the ratings at the end of the year come out. But NBC has a huge responsibility to portray the world’s largest sport in a responsible yet exciting manner. Any less effort will set the perception of the game in America back a decade.
